The French firm of Aster originated about the turn of the 20th century. They mainly produced engines and chassis, which were then bodied by many small firms who sold them as their own. The Wembley branch was established in 1898. In 1922 a series of expensive, quality cars were produced. A merger with Arrol-Johnston in 1927 saw the setting up of Arrol-Aster. This combined company went into liquidation in 1930.
